Falco 16 "Greenland" Folding Kayak
Posted: 29 Mar 2012, 16:08
Here's the Falco 16 at the lake yesterday. It's more stable than I
anticipated... stability being relative
Construction is the same as the original Falco 12. The next to be built
will be the Falco Double (503 X 66cm X 18kg)
Lake conditions were too calm for a proper trial, though it should also perform
well in wind / wave.
I may next add / test a hinged plywood bottom, vs the PVC bottom skin as this
was my original plan. In that configuration, the boat would likely need no
separate keel to assemble, making it a true folding kayak. The downside is that
the kayak would be a bit heavier than it's current 11.8kg (26lbs).
Testing, testing, testing ... someone has to do it
